How to Select a Screw Conveyor

1. Determine the model and specifications of the screw conveyor based on the required conveying capacity as per the process requirements.

2. Select the appropriate model according to the process requirements. For horizontal or short-distance inclined conveying with a small angle, a horizontal slow-speed (LSS type) screw conveyor should be chosen; for vertical or large-angle conveying with a relatively low height, a vertical fast-speed (LSL type) screw conveyor should be selected.

3. Determine the form of the screw blades based on the properties of the conveyed materials. When conveying materials with good dispersibility such as wheat and rice, full-face blades should be selected; when conveying materials with high viscosity and easy agglomeration such as oil products, belt-shaped blades should be selected to prevent blockage. It should be noted that for raw grains and rice and other materials, screw conveyors are generally not selected to prevent the materials from being crushed.

4. Determine the rotation direction of the screw blades, the rotation direction of the screw shaft, and the combination of the screw body according to the layout requirements of the process equipment. After determining the position of the head and tail ends (loading and unloading ends) of the conveyor, the conveying direction of the materials is determined, and the rotation direction of the screw blades and the rotation direction of the shaft must meet the requirements; if intermediate or both ends are for unloading, different blade combinations with different rotation directions should be used to form a single screw body.
